Board of Directors Dr. Michael Huddy, Ph.D. - President, CEO, Director
Dr. Huddy joined Barrier in 1993 as the President of Barrier Technology Corporation (Barrier USA). He was elected President of International Barrier Technology (Barrier) in July 1994 and additionally elected a Director in 1995. Dr. Huddy was previously in charge of marketing and sales of Blazeguard® with Citadel and Weyerhaeuser. He was a part of Weyerhaeuser’s R&D team established to develop the Blazeguard product.
Dr. Huddy brings to the project considerable sales, marketing and general management experience. He joined Weyerhaeuser’s Architectural Products Group in 1988, after two years as General Manager of Weyerhaeuser’s Northwest Hardwoods operations in Wisconsin. Before joining Weyerhaeuser, Dr. Huddy worked for Crown Zellerbach Corporation for seven years in various capacities from Forestry Engineer to Research Division Manager. Dr. Huddy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry from Lake Superior State College; a Masters of Science degree in Resource Administration; and a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics with a minor in Business Management from Michigan State University.
David Corcoran, C.A. – CFO and Director
Mr. Corcoran, a Chartered Accountant, is CFO and a Director of International Barrier Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Prior to 1976, Mr. Corcoran spent over five years gaining experience in marketing, sales and product distribution while he worked in sales with major companies such as Scott Paper and Bristol Myers. His career in accounting began in 1976 when he joined Touche Ross and Company. In 1979, Mr. Corcoran founded Corcoran and Company, Chartered Accountants. From 1979 to 1990 his firm secured a wide variety of business clients whom he advised regarding their management and business planning. In 1991, Mr. Corcoran joined management of Barrier on a full time basis. Mr Corcoran brings to the organization specific business experience in both sales and public finance which offer significant strengths to the project. He has been a Director and Office of Barrier since its inception in 1986.
Victor Yates – Director
Mr. Yates is a Director of Barrier and P.C.C. He is a self-employed businessman involved in real estate, construction of multi-family and commercial developments. He holds a degree in Real Estate Appraisal and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent. In 1981, he was one of the founding directors of Hycroft Resources Inc., a gold producing company on the Toronto Stock Exchange. His 25 years of experience in operating a variety of business ventures brings to the Board an entrepreneurial, construction, and financial perspective. He has been a Director of Barrier since 1987.
Craig Roberts - Director
Mr. Roberts is a Director at Reed Construction Data, a leading worldwide provider of construction information products and services. Reed Construction Data is a division of Reed Business Information, a global provider of critical information and marketing solutions to business professionals and a member of the Reed Elsevier Group plc (NYSE: RUK and ENL). Prior to joining Reed, Mr. Roberts was a Senior Director at a Vancouver-based software firm. Working with the U.S. partner, McGraw-Hill Construction (NYSE: MHP), and joint customers, Mr. Roberts led a team driving meteoric growth for a web-based software platform focused on the sales and marketing needs of construction suppliers.
Mr. Roberts brings to Barrier extensive experience working with a broad list of commercial construction customers including United Rentals, Caterpillar, White Cap, Georgia Pacific, Dal Tile, Degussa, Dow Chemical, Honeywell, Simplex Grinnell, USG, and Turner Construction. From September 2005 through April 2006 Mr. Roberts developed an international licensing template for Barrier to expand globally through licensing opportunities with selected partners abroad. Mr. Roberts was invited to join Barrier’s Board as a Director in August 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) from Queen’s University and will complete in November 2006 an Executive MBA through the Johnson School of Business at Cornell and Queen’s School of Business.
Management
Ms. Janice B. Loebel – Vice President/General Manager, Barrier USA
Ms. Loebel joined Barrier in 2004. Her role was created to manage the expansion of Barrier’s manufacturing capacity and operations to meet increasing demand for Blazeguard and take advantage of emerging business opportunities. Ms. Loebel has over 25 years of senior executive experience, with increasing management responsibility for engineering, operations, marketing and sales, corporate strategy, and profit and loss performance. Her educational credentials include an MBA, MS Engineering, BS Engineering, and Associate Degree in Chemistry.
Ms. Loebel came to Barrier from American Time & Signal (ATS), a manufacturer of system clocks for institutional and industrial markets, where she served as president. At ATS, Ms. Loebel was responsible for improving operational efficiencies, the launch of six major new products, and revenue growth. Previously she ws General Manager/Vice President of Park Industries Inc., a manufacturer of machinery for the stone working industry, where she completed and launched a new production facility. At Harnischfeger Corporation, she was placed in various management roles over 10 years, eventually being appointed to General Manager, Electric Products Division, Mining Equipment, a division with $55M in revenue and 140 employees.
Mr. Todd Lorsung, Financial Services Manager, Barrier USA
Mr. Lorsung joined the Company in March 2006. He has extensive expertise in many areas of the financial services industry. In the banking industry, he served as a Portfolio Manager working with risk management and underwriting commercial loans. His financial expertise also includes experience in public accounting where he worked with various industries and facets including tax and compliance reporting and various attestation services. The majority of Mr. Lorsung’s experience comes from the private sector serving in assistant controller and accounting manager roles. Mr. Lorsung has served on various boards and advised senior management on a multitude of financial related issues. He brings a common sense approach to what can be a complicating and an intimidating discipline. Mr. Lorsung is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status) and has a B.S. degree in Accounting from Southwest State University in Minnesota and a Masters in Management from The College of St. Scholastica in Minnesota.
Ms. Melissa McElwee, Investor Relations Manager, International Barrier
Ms. McElwee joined Barrier in 2003 as the Financial Services Manager for the USA operations where she was responsible for accounting, internal sales, and human resources. She has recently transitioned into the role of Investor Relations Manager for Barrier. Ms. McElwee is responsible for investor and media communication for the company. She has a strong background in communication, financial analysis, and management. Prior to Barrier, Ms. McElwee held various managerial roles at Principal Financial Group in Iowa. She lead a team of project analysts responsible for developing and maintaining computer programs designed to efficiently process required IRS compliance testing for over 10,000 qualified retirement plans. In addition, Ms. McElwee facilitated external client presentations and internal training programs. Ms. McElwee holds a B.S. in Finance from Iowa State University in Ames, IA.
Mr. Vaughn Zoller, Plant Manager, Barrier USA
Mr. Zoller joined Barrier in March 1997. He is a veteran plant supervisor and has held managerial positions at Polar Tank & Trailer Inc., Dock-Rite Inc.; and J-Craft Inc. Mr. Zoller attended both Kimball High School and Crosier Seminary Prepatory School. He has lived in the Watkins, Minnesota area his entire life. Mr. Zoller is an excellent mill-wright and mechanic. In addition, he has outstanding administrative and people skills. Mr. Zoller was instrumental in developing and implementing the direct applied technology and production equipment in the Watkins production facility. |
