What architects, builders, scientists, building material distributors and building associations say...

"Mule-Hide identified an unmet market need for an affordable, easy to install, fire rated roof deck assembly for commercial modular structures. Modular manufacturers were seeking an assembly that could withstand high winds and fire while providing superior performance at a lower installed cost. Mule-Hide set out to design an assembly to meet emerging modular roofing code requirements for a Class C or A rated commercial roof deck assembly and identified International Barrier and its proprietary Blazeguard® fire resistant treatment as a key partner. After rigorous testing, the Blazeguard treatment applied to a single OSB deck board resulted in a fire resistant deck panel with superior performance and turned a five-step application into four. Mule-Hide entered into a private label agreement with Barrier to manufacture the panel under the name Mule-Hide® FR Deck Panel, sold exclusively to the modular roofing industry. Mule-Hide roofing systems are the number one choice of modular manufacturers and we anticipate the FR Deck Panel to position us for significant expanded revenue and market share in this segment. We have committed substantial marketing and sales resources to maximize the opportunity with this market exclusive product."

"With Blazeguard®, I have absolute confidence we'll never have to go back and replace a roof. I couldn't say that about any other product on the market today. The manufacturer stands behind Blazeguard® with a limited warranty. Nobody else does that."
- Joseph Novotny

"Blazeguard® eliminates all possible risk of failure associated with some conventional FRT plywood panels. You never have to worry about going back to replace a roof because of chemical degradation. It's also backed by a limited lifetime warranty. That makes a big difference to us and with our customers."
- Joel Wallenstrom
Vice President, Winchester Homes Inc., Calverton, ND

"Many of our projects require a two-hour fire rating on exterior walls. With Blazeguard®, we can meet this need and still be competitive with gypsum assemblies. Plus, Blazeguard® doesn't limit our choice of exterior sidings because you can nail right to it. You can't do that with gypsum."
- Ronald A. Sebring

"Our company is excited about Blazeguard®. I believe the prominent architects in our area will all be specifying Blazeguard® fire-rated sheathing because it's the only fire-rated product out there you can be absolutely sure about. It's an innovative replacement to FRT plywood. Everybody is gun shy around here of FRT plywood now but Blazeguard® removes the cloud of doubt surrounding a fire-rated roofing product. Weyerhaeuser gave the market a product customers can have confidence in."

"We don't put our label on a manufacturer's product until testing results show it does what it says it does. And Blazeguard®'s performance is excellent against strict testing standards. In fact, it's the first wood panel product the NAHB Research Center has certified with our label. It's a very innovative solution for providing fire protection in residential buildings."
- Ed Laatsch
Engineer, National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
Upper Marlboro, MD

"In addition to the obvious benefits of a Class A flame spread rating, Blazeguard®, on a plywood substrate, retains its structural performance over time. Tests indicate that Blazeguard® on plywood is stiffer and stronger than comparable untreated plywood."

- John Rose
Senior Engineer, American Plywood Association (APA), Tacoma, WA

"The manufacturer has done an excellent job of providing the test data we need. So far Blazeguard®'s performance is very convincing. We are involved in the design of many high-density multifamily housing projects and need a product that represents a one-piece application, meets all the code requirements and remains sound structurally. It looks like Blazeguard® does all of that."
